Set up a Domain and Subdomain on Vercel Project: A Step-by-Step Guide

Hey, fellow devs! So, you've purchased a sweet domain from Hostinger and you're itching to connect its power on Vercel?💥

I'll hold your hand as we connect your domain to Vercel and craft some nifty subdomains along the way. Say hello to the effortless website and web hosting on Vercel's turbocharged platform! Ready? Let's start and make some digital magic happen! 🎩✨

Sign In to Hostinger

Visit the Hostinger website and enter your login information to access your account. You can manage your domain and subdomain settings after logging in.

Access Domains Tab

In the Hostinger dashboard, click on the "Domains" tab. If you already purchased your domain then you will have a list of domains you own, or you can get a new domain by clicking on the "Get a new Domain" button.

Manage your DNS Settings

Click on the "Manage" button, and it will navigate you on a page where you will see your domain information.

Modify the DNS Settings

On the "DNS / Nameservers" module, you will find a button called "Manage DNS records", where you can add or edit the DNS records to point your domain and subdomain to Vercel's servers.

Login to your Vercel Account

Go to the Vercel website in a new tab or window. Enter your login information to access your Vercel account. If you already have imported your project then you will see a list of your projects like I have or you can also add or import your project from GitHub, to add your project file to Vercel, click the "Import Project" or "Add" button after logging in.

Click on your Project to Manage your Domains

Click on the project file to which you want to add your domain. You will see a tab named "Domains" there. Click to it and you will be redirected to a page where you can manage the DNS settings as you did on Vercel.

Add your Website

Click the "Add" button located under the "Domains" or "Custom Domains" section. After entering your primary domain, select "Add Domain." You don't have to write "https://" or "www" here.

Validate Configuration

You can get an "Invalid Configuration" error after trying to add the domain to Vercel. You must change your domain's nameservers in order to fix this problem. You must make sure that everything is configured correctly and provide a smooth connection between your Hostinger domain and Vercel's hosting platform by making changes to the nameservers.

Select the nameservers that Vercel has supplied, then copy them to a notepad or Word editor for future use. For your domain to connect to Vercel's hosting platform, these nameservers must be added to the Hostinger domain settings.

Congratulations! You did it😃

After successfully adding Vercel's nameservers to Hostinger's custom DNS settings, your domain appears to be operational and accessible.

Happy Coding✌
